Grief is a natural reaction to loss. Nothing seems to be a secret about it! Yet, many find it an enigma of a scary sort. Grief is a territory people wander on the outer edges without disturbing anyone inside the terrain of loss. As with any unknown or undiscovered, grief and the melancholy of it, the nostalgia of a past gone by, are pondered with a curious sidelong glance. One thing that people overlook is the fact that grief has been in their lives since they were born! The loss of mom’s safe womb starts a forever-changing world to grow up in, where toys would be lost, friendships would end, old addresses to leave behind to move into new homes, graduations, every cycle around the Sun that ends a year on the calendar, and more introduce us to grief from the start.
Today, on 12/31/2025, we invite you to welcome the New Year, 2026, by cherishing all that is left behind and that may have been lost or gone. As we honor and hold space for our grief, the new will have a healthy and welcoming space to move in.
Wishing everyone a happy, peaceful, and healthy new year.
Yes, making sure I hold space for the existence of the grief and also looking forward to new space & new experiences in the new year.
